I decoupled my power conditioner, strip, etc. using spiked cones and found a nice improvement in sound.I suspect that the reason that you get an improvement in sound by lifting cables, cords, etc. off of the carpet is that the carpet is acting like a dielectric (that is, a poor conductor of electricity, but an efficient supporter of electrostatic fields. Like when you shuffle your feet across the carpet in the winter and can then zap someone with an electrostatic charge.). Keep in mind that carpet is plastic (Unless you are one of the few that actually has or can afford wool carpet).
