No doubt it will work just fine for damping, until you want to remove it. I suggested 'sticky-tac', .49/oz slab, a generic equivalent available in most stationary sections of many stores, to a friend. Its available under many names, and just because us Yank audiofools will pay $10 for the Bostik Blu-tac (available in GB for a $1) doesn't mean there aren't equivalents. My pal cheaped out and bought the rope caulk duct work sealant. Worked like a charm to anchor his speaks to the stands, until he tried to remove the speakers. Lifted the lovely veneer right off! That sealant - rope caulk works a treat, unless you care about removing it from a surface you wish to preserve....
