Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I acquired this product through an auction at Audiogon (I have won two auctions of this prodcut). The system constitutes of four metal strips of around six inches by a little over one inch. The metal is cromalloy. Two of these pieces are placed on the inside of the cover of the component to be treated. Each piece has a substance that adheres to the surface being treated. The pieces are positioned by dividing the area into thirds, both lenghthwise and widthwise, and placing the strips on the two sets of intersections. Thus, two CVC are placed on the surface. To ensure perfect adhesion, the handle of a screwdriver is used to make enough pressure upon the CVC over all of its surface. Then, a very thin plastic that covers and protects the CVC during this operation is removed.I placed two strips on the inside cover of my Kinergetics Platinum transport (that uses the Philips pro transport system) and inside cover of my Sonic Frontiers Ultrajitterbug, and inside cover of my MSB Gold Link DAC (that uses the P1000 Power Supply). Although the improvemnts are not hughe, they are highly noticeable. I got more detail, clarity, soundstage and firmer bass. The air around instruments became more aparent and the soundstage became more coherent.
Then I added one CVC on the top pressure plate of the Philips transport system in my Kinergetcs. This is the top part that presses the CD into place. The improvements were much more noticeable thant whe I placed the other CVC's. I guess the reason is that this is an area subject to mechanical vibration and the CVC helped to damp it.
This is one of those items that make me hate to admit that they work. However, there is no voodoo magic operating here. When you read the white paper included with the kit (written by no other than Don "Wadia" Moses) you will see that there is a lot of hard science going into this little product.
I liked it so much that I will be bidding for more.
Highly recommended.
