Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I heard the sound of a motor running through my speakers Sunday morning and couldn't figure out where it was coming from at first. Upon further investigation, I discovered the neighbor was using an electric yard blower to clean his driveway.
These are single family houses built in 1955, with each dwelling receiving its own feed from the main power line. How is it that I am getting interference from the neighbors house? I might add that I am also getting a hum through my speakers in the early evening hours, usually around 7:00-10:00 PM intermittently. This power line interference might also account for my cordless phone losing a connection during the middle of a call.
Shouldn't there be filtering on the incoming line to prevent these problems?
