I did this once.
I used black self adhesive aluminium sheet. Trophy and Engraving places have it. I stuck a piece about 70mmx70mm on the underneath of the armboard and another piece on the top. Then I measured and re-drilled the holes in the correct position. The small void inside never seemed to be a problem.Cheers
