...I too slid the cables in and forgot about them. Three months later I slid the cables out again and heard a marked improvement. I found insulation sleeving to be detrimental to the well-being of my hi-fi, resulting in a slight de-focusing of the sound stage and the addition of a few degrees of mushiness. Others have obviously found differently, so your griminess may vary.
