I used to watch an instrument maker constructing curved sides for instruments by making a ply structure from individual veneer sheets. He soaked the veneer first for several hours then bent it roughly to shape over a metal pipe heated by a blow torch. Once it was roughly to shape it was placed on a mold and glued to the previous layer until he reached the right thickness when the whole structure was clamped to dry. The finished side was removed from the mold after the glue dried. You could steam bend in a similar way and glue to the speaker, then wrap the speaker and veneer tightly with string to tie/clamp the veneer in place until it dries. If the veneer is thin and flexible enough, you may not need to steam bend.
