Bill I'm trying to sort through the conflicting information on favourable room acoustics. I will shortly be discussing plans for my new house with an architect and will be informing him of my music room requirements.
I had more or less decided to go with a traditional rectangular room using one of the preferred ratios - probably 1:1.6:2.33, since this gives a usefull room size with normal (8-9ft) ceiling heights.
Now your comments have me worried. Should I be aiming for a vaulted type ceiling - this ceiling type seems to throw room mode calculations to the wind?
Any advice would be appreciated.
