The fact remains, however, that you are breaking the law; or at least the fire and building codes, which are arguably a part of the law. If your house burns down for any reason, inspectors are going to inspect, and it will be found that you were in violation of the code. You will be fined. The insurance company will kick. Pain and suffering, mostly yours.

Don't get me wrong, I have a 20A receptacle on my system line at this moment - I'm in the same boat as you; but I'm now researching those nice 15A jobs that Jon pointed to, and maybe you should do similarly; just to protect your own welfare.

Maybe someone is trying to protect me from myself, but that does not neccessarily mean that I won't benefit from it, or don't need it.
