Plants are often placed behind speakers as a sort of room lense. Plants will primarily diffuse upper mid and high frequencies, and to a lesser degree they will absorb some acoustic energy. The biggest advantage of such a tweak is the reduction of early reflections that reach the listener, which results in better soundstage/imaging.-Pete
