I just covered 2 massive 5kv transformers with their EMI/RFI paper with good results.What promted me to do that was I had an interconnect cable come near one of the transformers when I was messing aroung on my system the other day (before I covered them). I grabbed a sheet of the ERS and moved it in between the transformer and interconnect. A clearly audible (I was behind my speakers!) reduction of hum was evident.
Cover the whole transformer, or better yet, build a box for your transformer and line it with the ERS.
