ASFASIK you cannot get the headphone end connector. I contacted Equinox about their after-market cable and thet told me they couldn't, and wouldn't, sell-on the Senheiser connectors they use. Cardas mold their own so it has to be done there with the molding machine.As suggested you could buy another stock cable, cut off the ends and splice (though make sure that join is mechanically sound). I have an old pair of HD420s, whith compatible connectors and one is almost transluscent. From what I can see inside I think there's a fair chance I can operate with a dremel to remove the old cable and solder a new one in right to the pins while leaving enough of the plastic intact. A bought an extremely fine Dremel engraving tip for the purpose.
For the cable I will use a twisted pair made from the core of Belden 82259 ($0.79 per foot from Anixter) - foam teflon insulation and stranded bare copper conductor. This is not as flexible as the original cable but I think it will still work well enough. See the link to my earlier post.
