why don't you just try out the unipivot foot as suggested. A set of three is almost free and will take only an hour or so including the trip to the hardware store for parts. You can see a picture of a non pivot version of this kind of device at http://www.omegaloudspeakers.com/news.html The top washer/nut has been shown as two parts for clairity while in real life they are epoxied together as one.
