I also trust Rick Craig. I have not heard the Excelarrays yet but I suspect they are pretty nice. I have heard a number of other speakers of his and they are very good. The box quality is really not Rick's problem. Rick does not build boxes so people come in and say "this is Rick's YYY speaker . . ." but they were really built by the user to (hopefully) Rick's design.Try these:
Selahaudio - Rick's site. Number of choices not on the site so write him. Also check the DIY section of my site for the DIY2003 3-way winners. Both sounded great, Rick's and Pierre's.
The best DIY speakers I have ever heard were Linkwitz' Orions. Not cheap but really WOWed me. Don't pass up a chance to hear these.
Good ideas on www.murphyblaster.com
Another good kit is the ex-monsters over on the partsexpress projects board. Only a two way so a little weak in the very bottom end but great otherwise.
The Seas Thor over at Madisound sounded pretty good. It is a Tline.
