Consider that the 8024 originally went for over $400. There are two reasons to lower price and blow out old stock. One is that you're replacing it in the line. The other is that it didn't sell well enough and you're dropping the SKU entirely. But in this case I'd be surprised to see that the 8024 is dead, as Behringer just asked my magazine to review the 8024 a few months ago. Perhaps the rumors of the 8024's demise are premature. As I understand it this was first stated by a music store- and stand alone stores have a habit of trying to move in-stock merchandise rather than special order something, especially a single piece.
