let me try to remember - been a lot of stuff.Top change ever: CAT-5 bi-wore speaker cables replacing Audioquest Bedrock ; I finally had a "sound stage:
Other top 10 changes:
Power the speakers with Odyssey Mono blocks instead of mid-fi Onkyo M-504 - huge change, but hardly a "tweak"
Go from regular speaker wire to bi-wire
use VenHaus style silver IC's
Drop OLX ($200 for 36") speaker cables between external crossover and speaker in favor off 2" of twisted together CAT5 wires (no insulation).
Replace attenuator metal U-shaped bar with a few strands of twisted together Cat-5
replace regualr fuses with Bussman ABC ceramic fast blow fuses
Placed large leafy plants into the corners behind the speakers - sound stage wider.
Put CD player on 12" lightly inflated bicycle inner tube, spray inside with vibration dampening stuff, put weights on top
Replace regular RCA jacks on pre-amp with $5 dayton Audio female RCA's and wire directly to PCB with the same silver wire used in my IC's
Use my Nakamichi tape deck head demagnetizer to demagnetize CDs before playing them (rather impressive effect!)
use car wax to treat surface of older CDs before playing
Add VenHaus style power cords to all components
Add John Risch A/C filter for Pre-amp and CD player
Elevate speaker wires on ceramic tile supports
What didn't work at all for me:paint CD solid black except for the readable area
green pen on CDs
