is to add weight and stability.... so, the heavier the material the better... I use 25lb bags of Lead Shot #9 wrapped with celophane to reduce/eliminate lead dust and then wrapped in a nice blck velour material for the WAF..... It's perfect for my main speakers and subwoofer for mass loading and vibration absorbtion.Sam
