Something to check is feedback point!
When I built the K4040 instructions showed feedback taken from the 4 Ohm speaker post.Using the 8Ohm output hum was fairly noticable.With speakers connected to 4Ohm post hum was at zero level.I found to use the 8Ohm post switching the feedback to that post cured the hum issue.Rotating the Tx did little to null this out.
