I always use good quality sockets when replacing op amps. The opa2604 is a very nice sounding device at a good price, its my op ampof choice in gear thats a few years old. I have never had a problem using the socket method, though I have had serious problems when I have tried to drop the op amp straight on to the board. It's so simple to change the op amp if you use the socket method, with little to no sound degridation.
