David, a last thought on this: my experience with the piano between the lenses when they were unstuffed. I had a profound Helmholz resonator effect on the piano's major frequencies in that situation. Wasn't what I was seeking and in fact wasn't in the correct design of the completed lenses, but the hollow pipes themselves do indeed reinforce frequencies.Jon kept saying that I shouldn't look to a first order resonator effect from the lenses, as did you, and you were right in that a correctly cloned lens didn't rely on that effect. But the unfinished version did indeed have that effect, and I suspect that the arrays in this guys article (if hollow and not outdoors) would have shown a pronounced reinforcement of frequencies by resonance.
