I have heard those fat "audiophile" power cords make a difference, but I didn't think it was necessarily better, just "different", and I wondered if it was simply acting as a sort of line conditioner (and not a very good one at that). As such, I'd just leave those power conditioners (which really should work, with some caveats) of yours alone for now until I was certain that hum (both radiated and mechanical<--two of the potential "gotchas") from those transformers wasn't going to be an issue, and then, proceed with the experimentation with both a critical ear, and an eye towards keeping the costs down.If I'm skeptical, it's because the majority of high end systems that I've heard recently do not sound significantly more "live" than the ones I heard in the '80s.
