In Reply to: Replace output capacitors on Anthem Pre 2L - Auricap or Audiocap Thetas? posted by bob53 on January 9, 2003 at 22:45:53:
I have used a number of output caps in my Foreplay preamp, including Solens, and I settled on Auricaps. I have not tried the Audiocap Theta, but I can say the Auricaps will not disappoint you, in my opinion. In my system Aricaps smoothed some of the tizziness of the highs over that of the Solens. The Auricaps are not as forward as the Solens. The Auricaps and Hovlands are close and I would imagine the Audiocaps based on price may well be in the same class. The Audiocaps look an awful lot like the Auricaps.
As to better, you are going to have to settle that for yourself. Everyone's system and ears differ somewhat. So, what sounds good in my system to my ears may sound different to your ears in your system. YMMV
Let us know what you finally decide and what you hear. Good luck!
