I recall that the Hubbell hospital grade had some nickel plating, but the Hubbell hard use outlet Sound Applications, World Power and Jena Labs sells is all 688 brass....The hard use outlet, made in Puerto Rico, unfortunately can't be taken apart as the frame has sawtooth grippers built in that destroy the nylon when you try to get it apart...Nickel is bright sounding, not to the point that bats fall from the skies, but brighter than plain brass....I have always liked the Pass & Seymour 5242-I and never noticed any brightness, but I solder these into line filters I build after removing the screws, two of which are nickel plated.....The nickel does not come off easily and know that ACME had to find a source for plain brass screws for their silver plated Pass & Seymours...I had a devil of a time replacing the nickel plated neutral pin on the P&S wall plugs....It was such a pain in the you know what I renamed the new power cord "688" after the alloy........Funny how sensitive AC is to seemingly small changes......
