Hi navman;Ferrite clamps, beads, wraps, etc are definitely worth a try. Radio Shack has some ferrite 'wraps' (2 for $8 in a pack) that have worked well in my hifi/video systems. Definitely use them on power cords for CD players - some people have claimed a loss of dynamics on power amps - haven't tried that myself though (except on the ground wire and that one definitely cleaned up some grunge).
Anyway, it's cheap to experiment with and you might find that it cleans things up a lot. Largely I suspect that it depends on your installation - I'm near to THREE TV broadcast towers and I use different sizes/shapes/types of ferrite devices extensively. The only real way to find out what works best for you is to try it out and experiment a little.
Lastly, if you like the results of a set of cheapie Radio Shack ferrites, go over to DigiKey and hunt around. They've got better prices if you're going to order a lot of something. Nothing against the big name brands, but particularly in this economy I'm allergic to buying pricey name brand goodies when I can find a cheaper generic alternative.
Good luck and Happy New Year,
Morse
