You can see my raves/rants about CAT 5e DIY cables all over this place. I'm a relative newbie, but this was such an easy project (I did it the easier way than Chris' excellent design and modified the TNT-audio design), cost so little and delivered such superb sound that I felt guilty about the pleasure of a $23 triumph of this magnitude over $400 cables!!No kidding, there are a multitude of easy to moderately easy designs, if you use the right wire, that will do the trick.
