I did experience the bearings digging into the finish. To solve the problem I purchased some 2"x2"x1/4" 6061-T6 hard aluminum plate from ONLINE MEATALS at the link below. (scroll to bottom of page for custom sizes) I had to sand the extrusion marks with crocus cloth and a finishing(vibrating) sander. Then I polished them to a mirrored finish(w/sander and cotton rag)using MAAS Metal Polish, available at your local Wal-Mart. There was an overall improvement from top to bottom, much like I precieved when I first put the bearings in my system, although not quite as signifigant. The improvement was well worth the time effort and small cash outlay in my system. As usual YMMV.
