Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
There are postings from time to time about swapping capacitors in CD players in hope of better sound forgetting these players are trial tested against industry standards.
Freequency response can severely be augmented into seesaw pattern, not flat.
My experience of some wellknown brands are merely sounding like having hooked to a cheap equalizer with strong boost in treble and bass frequency.
If resolution of replacement capacitor is off par, then such boost is merely increasing noise floor db in the end.
Reputable manufacturers picked capacitors and resistors to supplement/complement the inherit charateristics of the circuitry as a whole. Therefore, any user tweaking (without testing tools) can have positive and negative effect.
Therefore the money can be put into system upgrade rather than a thorough parts changeover with unwarranted result.
