using XLR jacks on SE equipment, how do you do it

Hi,
I need some help from those of you that actually know something about electronics.
I have a cd player that has se outputs, I have high quality xlr cables, and balanced amp. I wanted to add a set of Neutrik XLR jacks to the cd player so I could use my good cables. How do I go about it, is this as simple as hooking up pin 1 to +, pin 2 to -, and pin 3 to a ground???
That is what I am planning on doing, but wanted some help from the board first.
