they are not as stable as the LM340 and LM317 and require more care to ensure stability than the ones you are thinking of replacing. I personally don't consider the LT1085 an upgrade unless you need the low dropout voltage, high current output characteristic or more precise reference voltage it offers (which I doubt). You will be trading these off for worse transient response which frankly is more critical in most audio applications.It is a positive regulator and will not replace the LM337 which is a negative regulator.
I would simply increase the input and output capacitance (and quality thereof) on what you have now and you will end up with a better tweak than going to the LT device IMHO.
