I posted this in General Asylum, but got no response, so I'll post here:I've come upon an isolation transformer in which the center tap is connected to ground, creating a balanced power unit. But I was told that since the voltage between the 2 legs has a tolerance of 1 volt or so. Does something like this still provide the benefits of balanced power like rejecting common mode?
But then, I hear from somebody else that even if the difference is off by 0.05v, it will become ineffective.So what is the truth?
