I have taken this from a post by the legendary Pete Goudreau:
"The times I have used capacitor snubbers (without series
resistors), the capacitor did not prevent the EMI generation. The
single capacitor just shifted the EMI peak to a lower frequency. If
you are trying to eliminate a buzz on AM radio, adding a cap will be
sufficient.Using a cap in parallel with a resistor in series with a
second cap will both reduced the Q of the tank as well as reducing the
ringing frequency."
