I tried this with old electrolytic capacitors and this works (no news at all). But when I tried it on new ones it works and this is a very pleasant surprise. It enables you to tweak caps but not chaning components ! Or if you do this to the bypass caps you are adding, they perform like heaven.
Use a 15-30K ohm resistor to slowly charge up (re-form) your electrolytic capacitor to the voltage needed by your circuit (at that particular point) and they will perform very very very well. (It is my private suspicion that the "audio grade" capacitors have been treated this way).
For power amp PS filter caps, give them 10-60 minutes and make sure to check that the voltage across the resistor drops to very low. For pre-amp and DAC ones, a few minutes will do and always use a higher value resistor like 30k. This will have stunning effects. For me it is the step that brough my sound stage beyond the width of the speakers. To me it was like upgrade the whole system 3 times in a row !
This is an important tweak and I appeal to all fellow tweaker to try it (a few minutes of work only !!!).
For Power amp capacitors, beware of blowing fuses (as usual) !
