I would also recommend to check out book that talks about amplifier concepts.
Like the one from Bruce Rozenbilt for example.
There are some copies of the RCA recieving tube manual online. It describes tube amp basics in a really understandable way. Most of it is still true for solid state amps too.
If you do a search for DIY Amp you'll get some real excellent articles on the construction principles,too.Basic pure electronic books are so dry. With additional amp books that might be to complicated in some chapter, but so you would know what to read in the basics books.
