JPW mini monitors are 6 ohms (nominal) so a second pair pair would have shown your amplifier a load of 3 ohms, perhaps even less at some frequencies. NAD and others can handle a load like this but not the Yamaha. You can find a used NAD for cheap that will do a fine job as a replacement. Sorry...
