I wouldn't go so far as to put it in the trash. Selling it as-is to a hobbyist would be a good solution. At worst, someone will buy it for the parts and/or case work.I had that choice recently for a 1988 vintage CD player. However, I looked at the price of a headphone amplifier and decided that I wanted the parts, so I literally trashed it in more ways than one to get the parts out.
After listening to it once again -- transport was erratic, it was an easy descision to trash.
