Not exactly sure what a technical ground is, but of the three pieces of equipment, ground one and use cheater plugs on the other two. Try the three different combinations and see which one is quieter.Turnoff thump - two things: 1. Check for DC at the preamp output - see if mute does the same thing as turnoff 2. It's a good practice to power down the amps first that way source transients wont affect your amp or speakers.
