Please forgive me for posting some potentially dangerous advice. Obviously, handling bare wires that are connected to your AC wall outlet is always dangerous to your person, as well as to your film cap. Potentially, YOU COULD RECEIVE A LETHAL DOSE OF ELECTRICITY BY TOUCHING BARE WIRES CONNECTED TO HOUSEHOLD AC. DON'T DO IT. I recommend using the output of an AC signal generator, instead, to determine the "polarity" of film caps, as outlined above.
