hmm. lets recall .. 8545 ...
I think that it was at first fantastic because it provided great sound being VERY TOLERANT to a novice. I mean it plays no matter what mistake you make.
But then I applied and heard the 13 cm paper scanspeak. It totally thrashed 8545 in the midrange, but that applies to three ways only. Anyway I do not like two ways at all because the mids are nor dampened inside the box and sound boxy.
Coming back to 8545, it makes everything sound good, without highlightening the little nuances.
I found that 8542 is much more detailed, airy, even though not so great in the bass. 8542 does nearly as good job in the midrange as the 13 cm while going lower at the hipass cutoff.To end the story, I feel 8545 is good to a certain point. To achieve what I want it is not detailed enough.
What I want - the goosebumps when the female singer sings. Jaw-dropping magic. To achieve this you need tubed system and good midrange in your speakers.Lukasz
