Jon, let me share with you what I observed with the Moth. Remember I have not prior experience with the Exotica teflon caps nor did I compare the teflon vs the stock caps. And unlike your situation, my comments concern the new amp as it gradually stabilized.Compared to my PP EL34-based triode VAC I found the Moth initially lacking in treble vibrancy, and imaging. Yeah, the Moth hung images in space but the VAC just did it better. The treble was just a bit veiled, without the snap and sparkle of the VAC. After a couple of weeks this condition was much improved, though even now (months later) I interpret the Moth to be not as extended as the VAC, and even with the incredibly engaging bass from the 45's my focus remains on the middle registers, and I like that. YMMV.
