Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

About a year ago I upgraded my phono stage and was able to give away to a friend the Rotel 820B integrated I had been using as a phono stage. We placed it in his (shite) system between a crappy Philips CD player and a pair of no-name bookshelf speakers. The only other change we made was to put in slightly better speaker cables than he had. There was a noticeable improvement in sound quality, in fact he kept calling me to describe how much more "guts" the sound had.
Now, this amp had worked for me for about ten years without skipping a beat, but after about a month with him it started blowing output fuses. He has replaced these three or four times now and has lost patience, returning to his original amp.
Any ideas?
