I'm tempted to say:"Yes if it sounds good. Why? Because of the sound. No if it doesn't sound good. Why? Because of the sound."
However, I didn't say that did I?
The dealer I bought my Gyrodec SE from highly recommended using Aurios with it. Not wishing to shell out for Aurios, I tried Diyumas instead. My original arrangement was: granite shelf (polished side up), TT. My second arrangement was granite shelf, BB, ball cup (intended by its makers as a drawer handle), MDF shelf, TT.
Having the ball cup on top of the BB is fiddly, but it made more sense to me to have the BB in contact with the granite than with the MDF. Gyrodec SE's design makes Diyuma directly under table impractical.
The result was one of those changes where I had thought that the system was sounding OK, but afterwards I realized it hadn't been. The sound became less attached to the speakers, separation of instruments improved, a layer of haze seemed to have lifted.
I now have an inner tube under the granite shelf. Inserting this was a bit of a pain, and (in contrast to the Diyumas) I've not really convinced myself that it was worth the trouble.
I've not really any clue about the theory involved, but it seems to me that the TT suspension provides reasonable isolation in the vertical plane, but not so much horizontally. Diyumas do the opposite. So I guess they complement each other.
