You may well have to put it in an enclosure for safety, and fit your own plugs and sockets.
Basically it is a mains rated autoformer that has a variable output usually upto +10 % of input voltage. They are obviously rated with power disipation - so you may choose either 1 large one, or a series of smaller ones, but you'll be pleased to hear, the overall 'insertion loss' is much much lower than a potential divider.
