just a thought since I stumbled upon posts, mainly Thorsten, about non-harmonic distortion noise floors induced in systems with complex signal (music, white noise, multitones). How about a discussion about this? Does anybody have some data comparing regular/non-oversampling DAC on this type of distortion, and on tube vs. analog?
Here some papers relating to similar topics (some from speaker measurement problems but the same approach obviously can be used in electronics, see Thorsten's approach)
