Attached is a link to a rough sketch of a simple circuit we use to make our own demag units. Ensure if you do make one that you follow the usual safety warnings when dealing with mains power (115vac or 230vac) and use a suitably insulated and rated coil. The core MUST be fully insulated from the coil winding. The legs will attach to the end faces of the iron core. Only use an unlatching push button and don't keep energised for more than a minute or two. Also energise the unit away from the heads, capstan, etc and then bring close. Use small circular motions and then slowly take the unit away and switch off. Place some soft insulating material across the gap to avoid scratches, etc.Usual disclaimers apply here if you decide to DIY a unit.
