Yes, but perhaps it is not optimal application of tube technology?

IMHO, the sweet sound of tubes will not be optimized in a box where most of the energy is sub-sonic. An SS amp will control the driver more precisely, and allow more freedom in box design. An acoustic suspension box would damp the driver, but is less efficient, alas. An SS amp could be utilized in a ported, dipole, or as sub as well. Plus, sub amps are reasonably priced. After all, depending on how low you cross over, you won't have to "listen" to it much!
