They do make 120vct isolation transformers but they cost about $2000. See www.eqitech.com. They have good reference material in balanced power as well.I just got a 480vct to 240vct standard building transformer from a surplus electrical dealer. I am sending in 240 and using the 240vct as may balanced power which now is 120ct because I am only feeding in 240v. You should be able to find a used 1KVA unit for less than $75 in your city.
There are two drawbacks I found but for the price they are easy to live with.
1) You will only get half the namepalte rating in this mode. Mine is 10KVA so I can get 5 out of it. You may be able to overload since these types of transformers are very rugged. Just watch the heat.
2) The secondary impedance is much higher and regulation is a biit loose but still well within spec of most equipment.
And remember you must have 240vac available to cheat with these building stepdown transformers. You can't parallel a split primary and run it on 120v. You still need the 2:1 turns ratio.
