I really think it is well worth a try!
Sand is a good damping material and is
heavy= stable foundation.
Only possible drawback is that sand
can come in the wrong place, causing problems.
MDF is a proven material for damping.
I would put chassis directly on sand.
That gives damping of eventual resonances
in the chassis.
A CD-chassis on four legs in corner
can vibrate in the middle of legs.
If you put a bit of liggunderlag(swedish for the
frigolit or styrolit-plastic you put
under the sleeping-bag, when you sleep in tent)
under a CD-chassis, the whole of bottomplate
is dampened.
A combination of more than one damping materials
is better than one. Because they have complementary
characteristics.
I still suspect the feedback through the air
