LD & HD foam would be insignificant in regard to the sound. More of a difference may be obtained by relocating the pillows if they happen to effect your listening position. If you switched the fabric from lets say cloth to leather, then you probably would hear a change. I worked in the ID industry for 15 years and if foam is what you want, go for the high density (HD) type as your shop suggests, it will hold its shape a lot longer (many years with normal use).
