Virtual Kelvin ground sounds like a contradiction, and I do not see where this would be relevant for a power conditioner, unless it regenerated the AC waveform ala a PS300.Without any data on these units (and no, I do not do free consulting of such an in depth nature), it would be folly to attmpt to upgrade them. I suggest contacting the manufacturer, and talking to a techincal person. If you stop and think about it carefully, you should be able to figure out a way to get connected to their repair people, or technical support, and ask some questions. I would take it from the tack that you were concerned about the units reliability, and are the caps going to go bad, are they aged, should they be replaced,? What kinds can you replace them with, can you use film caps?
You should be able to use the DIY AC Line Filter/SS in conjunction with these UNLESS THEY SPECIFICALLY STATE THAT THEY SHOULD NOT BE USED WITH SS! Again, call the company and ask. Perhaps they can send you an OM or sell you a service manual.
RE the sound absorbing units: I recommend that to duplicate the ASC devices, you place plastic on one side just underneath the burlap. This does allow for tuning the room better.
3 panels and 4 traps should NOT make a room overly dead, unless it already had super-duper ceiling tiles, extra deep pile carper with mondo pad underneath, and many other atypical sound absorbing items such as overstuffed furniture, persian rugs on the wall, etc.
In a typical room with just normal carpet, this many devices should be fine, and is not even optimum yet.
Sure, put some plastic on one side of the traps, but then try getting used to the sound for awhile first. Realize that you may need to tweak the location of your speakers a bit, to take maximum advantagwe of the room treatments.
