Thanks very much for the advice. I was not thinking in "pairs" - that makes much more sense.
as far as putting a load on the transformer, would a light bulb work as a rough cut? I know that I won't get perfect readings, but they are scavenged after all...also, the subtext of your previous message means that you CANNOT reverse a lv transformer to get a hv transformer, right?
(I do know which wires are the primary leads)Thanks much, still learning.
